Generally, the lifespan of a boiler is 10-15 years. If the boiler is maintained annually as required by the manufacturer, the BC Safety Authority, and our installation contractor, it can usually exceed 15 years. However, without annual maintenance, most boilers need to be replaced within 10 years.
F4 represents an equipment fault and can have many causes. The worst-case scenario is that the internal components have corroded and are leaking, causing a small jet of water that prevents the boiler from starting. This situation requires replacing the internal heat exchanger, which typically costs around $5000. Many customers choose to replace the entire boiler instead, which costs approximately $12,500.
There are other reasons for the F4 error code as well. A dirty combustion chamber can reduce the ignition arc, preventing the boiler from igniting. You may also notice deformation in the igniter, which prevents it from generating a sufficient arc to ignite the gas. In this case, replacing the igniter and thoroughly cleaning the combustion chamber can restore functionality. This usually costs around $580.

当然，F4还有其他原因，炉膛过脏，沉积的物质消减了点火器的电弧，导致无法点火。在观察点火器的时候，也会看到其本体产生变形，无法形成足够的电弧引燃加压喷射的天然气。这种情况更换点火器和做一次彻底炉膛清洁即可再次投入使用，这种费用不高，大致在580左右。
