The average lifespan of a mid-efficiency boiler is 15-20 years. With mandatory annual maintenance as required by the manufacturer, the BC Technical Safety Authority, and our installation contractors, they can generally exceed 20 years. Without annual maintenance, they typically need a full replacement before 15 years. However, from January 1, 2022, mid-efficiency boilers for floor heating are no longer allowed to be manufactured and sold. When a boiler breaks down, apart from repair, the only option is to upgrade to a high-efficiency boiler.
The costs to upgrade to a high-efficiency boiler include three parts: the high-efficiency boiler itself (about $5000), piping and accessories (about $1500), labor costs (about $4000), and re-laying the exhaust pipe (about $3500).
From January 1, 2023, any subsidies are no longer valid as the government is planning to phase out natural gas heating equipment step by step.

If that's not the issue, then the most likely cause is a failure of one of the main components A, B, or C, which would need to be replaced. Repair costs (including parts) are as follows: A requires $1200, B requires $890, C requires $1150. It's generally unlikely for all three to fail; usually, only one of them is damaged. Of course, there's also a possibility that other parts are faulty, which would require a detailed inspection to pinpoint the exact cause.
